10. The Witches – 1990
Just months after “The Witches” premiered, Roald Dahl passed away. This was the last film adaptation of one of his books, having been completed before his death. The story is about Luke. When his parents die in a car accident, Grandma Helga takes care of the boy. Then grandma gets diabetes. On the advice of her doctor, the two move into a hotel.
A group of witches also resides here. Luke accidentally discovers that they intend to wipe out all the children of the world. The plan is simple; add a magic potion to candy that turns the kids into mice. Luke suffers this fate! Will he, as a mouse, succeed in thwarting the witches’ nefarious schemes?
