Top 10 Best Soccer Players in the World Right Now 2022

Best Soccer Players in the World 2022: While there isn’t a right answer, most of the players on this list were objectively the best in the world last season. However, due to constant swings in form, as well as the fact that football stopped altogether for a few months in the middle of the season, this list can be controversial in some ways. But what is a ranking without controversy?

It is also important to add to this list the fact that while most of the leagues resumed after the forced break, French Ligue 1 did not restart. Hence, the placement of the two Ligue 1 players on this list is both subjective and arbitrary and could have been completely different if those players had played the rest of their season.

Due to the game’s freeze and the fact that there are currently many players who could be talked about as the best players in the world, the list becomes more subjective, of course.

Best Soccer Players in the World in 2022

We’ve tried to take into account each player’s current form as well as their general ability when they’re fit, but the ranking will always be arbitrary with so many players playing so well. But without further ado, here are the ones I believe are the top 10 in the world right now based on shape and natural ability when fit.

1. Lionel Messi

  • Full Name: Lionel Andrés Messi
  • Date of Birth: 24 June 1987
  • Height: 1.69m (5 ft 7 in)
  • Position: Forward

La Pulga Atómica (the nuclear flea) has been high on this list for over a decade, and at 34 years old, he’s still going strong. Indeed, sensational stats and seasons have become second nature to him. Although Messi missed the first four games of the season due to injury, Messi will likely win the league’s top scorer for the seventh time.

In his career with 22 goals and three games remaining. In addition to these 22 goals, Messi has so far made 20 assists in the league, surpassing his personal record of 18 in one season and a total of 42 goal contributions in 30 league games. For every player, this is the season of their life. For Lionel Messi, it is as usual.

With 27 goals and 24 assists in all competitions, Messi is hoping to lead Barcelona to their first Champions League title since their triple win in the 2014-15 season. Messi is also the youngest player to win the Ballon d’Or. He barely beat Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk by seven points.

Despite Barcelona’s management problems and uncertainty about the club’s future when Messi leaves, the Argentine striker has continued to play unstoppable and exciting football, as usual, scoring his 700th career goal recently.

2. Cristiano Ronaldo

  • Full Name: Cristiano Ronaldo dos Santos Aveiro
  • Date of Birth: 5 February 1985
  • Height: 1.87 m (6 ft 2 in)
  • Position: Forward

As long as he’s around, he’s at the top of the list. Cristiano Ronaldo is 36 years old, is only playing in his second year in Italy, and is still collecting absurd numbers in front of goal. Ronaldo has contributed to half of all Juventus goals this season, with 28 goals and 6 assists in the 28 games he has played in the league and a total of 39 contributions in all competitions.

He is currently challenging Lazio’s Ciro Immobile for the Capocannoniere (Serie A top scorer) and was Juventus’ star in what appeared to be a title-winning campaign. Ronaldo, who won the Champions League with his two previous clubs, would like to end his personal three of a kind this season when the tournament starts again in August.

What’s even more impressive is that Ronaldo scores a goal in a league game with less help from his teammates than in the past. Of the 20 teams in Seria A, Juventus is 16th in the crosses and 14th in the exact crosses and assists from the flanks this season.

Ronaldo has the highest-headed goals in football history, so the lack of intersection skills has seriously affected his goal record this season. Still, he’s one behind the leading scorer.

3. Neymar

  • Full Name: Neymar da Silva Santos Júnior
  • Date of Birth: 5 February 1992
  • Height: 1.75 m (5 ft 9 in)
  • Position: Forward

Although Neymar Jr. has struggled with injuries this season and has not played since the beginning of March because Ligue 1 decided to end the season early instead of resuming the game after the lockdown, he ranks third on my list Place.

This should show how amazing the Brazilian winger is when he’s fit. In just 15 league games this season, Neymar scored 13 goals and 6 assists.

In 22 games in all competitions, these numbers increase to 18 goals and 10 assists. In his three seasons at Paris Saint-Germain, Neymar hasn’t achieved anything close to a full season, but his world-class skills are as clear as they are on the day when he’s on the field.

The only reason Neymar didn’t win the Ballon d’Or is because of Messi, Ronaldo, and injuries. Without these three factors, Neymar would easily be a competitor, if not a Verpa, for the best player of all time

4. Robert Lewandowski

  • Full Name: Robert Lewandowski
  • Date of Birth:  21 August 1988
  • Height: 1.85 m (6 ft 1 in)
  • Position:  Striker

Bayern Munchen Bayern Munich’s world-class frontman has just ended his sixth season with the club and his tenth season in the Bundesliga as a whole, helping Bayern win their eighth title in a row. And at 31 Robert Lewandowski had his best season so far.

Lewandowski secured the award as the top scorer in the Bundesliga for the fifth time with 34 goals in the 31 games in which he played.

In six games throughout the season, he was only able to score seven goals and one hat trick. He also managed 51 goals and 6 assists in 43 games in all competitions, including two in the DFB Cup final, which Bayern recently won.

Those numbers are also likely to rise in August when the Champions League resumes in Lisbon, as Lewandowski has scored a goal in every Champions League game he has played so far this season.

After such an incredible season, Robert Lewandowski is in good shape for the Ballon d’Or 2020. In fact, the decision could turn out to be an easy one if Lewandowski can continue his incredible form and help Bayern Munich win the Champions League and come second European team to win a continental triple twice.

For the Polish international, this is within reach, as Bayern Munich is generally considered a favorite to win the title.

5. Kylian Mbappé

  • Full Name: Kylian Mbappé Lottin
  • Date of Birth: 20 December 1998
  • Height: Paris, France
  • Position: Forward

Paris Saint GermainMbappé is just behind Lewandowski on my list due to his youth and the fact that he hasn’t played since March. So after a few years, the French 21-year-old could be at the top of that list. Mbappé’s trophy cabinet, which is already a World Cup winner with one goal in the final and a four-time Ligue 1 winner, is only being expanded.

Mbappé was slightly injured this season and still scored 18 goals and 7 assists in the 20 league games he played. In all competitions, he scored 47 combined goals and assisted in 33 games. These are Messi numbers. These are Ronaldo numbers. These are Mbappé’s numbers.

Unfortunately, due to the abrupt end of Ligue 1, Mbappé will most likely be an underdog for the 2020 Ballon d’Or. However, if he can win his and PSG’s first Champions League title in August with the help of Neymar, he could of course get back into the conversation immediately.

6. Kevin De Bruyne

  • Full Name: Kevin De Bruyne
  • Date of Birth: 28 June 1991
  • Height: 1.81 m (5 ft 11 in)
  • Position: Midfielder

Manchester city Another player who could easily challenge for the Ballon d’Or at the end of the year is Kevin De Bruyne of Manchester City. The Belgian midfielder is absolutely world-class. He is for sure the best midfielder in England and his vision and passing ability are not on the charts.

De Bruyne has 11 goals and 18 assists in the Premier League this season and could be the player to break Thierry Henry’s Premier League record of 20 assists in one season with four games left.

After Pep Guardiola’s dominant Manchester City side conceded the Premier League title on Liverpool this season, they will want to prove themselves when the Champions League resumes in August and Kevin De Bruyne will be a major factor in whether City will win the Cup Can or not finally pick up The team has so desired.

7. Virgil Van Dijk

  • Full Name: Virgil van Dijk
  • Date of Birth: 8 July 1991
  • Height: 1.93 m (6 ft 4 in)
  • Position: Centre-back

The Dutch defender signed for Liverpool in Southampton in January 2018 and has since become one of the Premier League’s all-time defenders. Virgil van Dijk, one of the key players on a stellar team to win the championship, finished the 2019 Ballon d’Or rankings just behind Lionel Messi and became almost the first defender since Italian center-back Fabio Cannavaro to win the award in 2006.

In last season’s Premier League, van Dijk conceded only 22 goals, remained without conceding 20 times, achieved a success rate of 74%, and recorded the second-highest number of passes. He was also named Premier League Player of the Year.

Losing only once in the league, Liverpool finished the season runner-up on 97 points, one point behind the team they defeated Manchester City. However, Liverpool has won the Champions League and has since won the UEFA Super Cup and the FIFA Club World Cup.

In all competitions, van Dijk was only dripped once during the entire season. Despite not having had such an incredible season as last year, he still has the most passes in the Premier League and has helped Liverpool hold the most goals conceded in the league. He did in the let

8. Sadio Mané

  • Full Name: Sadio Mané
  • Date of Birth: 10 April 1992
  • Height: 1.75 m (5 ft 9 in)
  • Position: Forward / Winger

Liverpool Aside from the team’s defensive strength, Liverpool has had one of the most threatening attacks in the world in recent years and Sadio Mané was one of the main reasons for that. The Senegalese winger was exceptional for the current English and European champions.

He has scored 16 goals and 9 assists so far this season and, together with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and his teammate Mo Salah, won the Premier League Golden Shoe with 22 goals.

So despite Mo Salah’s record-breaking goalscorer two seasons, Sadio Mané stands out. His pace, finish, and control are all world-class and he has scored some incredible goals for Liverpool over the past two seasons, including a brilliant chip against Bayern Munich in the Champions League last year.

Mané finished fourth at the 2019 Ballon d’Or and appears to be a challenger for the award again in 2020.

9. Riyad Mahrez

  • Full Name: Riyad Karim Mahrez
  • Date of Birth: 21 February 1991
  • Height:  Sarcelles, France
  • Position: Winger

Manchester city Similar to Liverpool, it is incredibly difficult to find an attacking player on a team with so much talent up front and on the wings. What makes this even more difficult is that Manchester City’s squad depth forces some of the team’s best players to sit on the bench.

However, I knew I had to involve at least one attacker from Manchester City, and between Bernardo Silva, Sergio Agüero, Raheem Sterling, Gabriel Jesus, and even the injured Leroy Sané, I chose the former Leicester City player and the Algerian international.

He has 10 goals and 12 assists in the Premier League this season. While he’s actually only the fifth Man City player to score double-digit goals and assists this season (a Premier League record, by the way), he’s only started 60% of City’s games and has been banned for five of them.

Mahrez’s control and first touch are absolutely exceptional and he would probably make it into any other team in the world.

10. Erling Haaland

  • Full Name: Erling Braut Haaland
  • Date of Birth: 21 July 2000
  • Height: 1.94 m (6 ft 4 in)
  • Position: Striker

DortmundAfter just one season in the limelight, Erling Haaland is arguably the best teenage soccer player in the world and has quickly become one of the best strikers in the game. Even though he’s only 19 years old, his numbers are too ridiculous to not be among the best players in the world right now.

Haaland started this season with RB Salzburg in Austria, scoring 16 goals and managing 6 assists in just 14 league games as well as 8 goals and 1 assist in the group stage of the Champions League.

The Norwegian striker then moved to Borussia Dortmund in the mid-season and continued his incredible form with 13 goals and 3 assists in 15 Bundesliga games. In total, Haaland has 44 goals and 10 assists in 40 games this season, and it is these amazing numbers that currently put the youngster in the top 10.

Haaland certainly has plenty of time to improve and will only score more goals and play for bigger clubs, but this season is not simply a breakout year. If he had won any trophies this year, the 19-year-old would undoubtedly be a Ballon d’Or contender.

Despite being knocked out by PSG in the Champions League round of 16, Haaland scored two goals, including a gr long shot. He and Mbappé, as well as a few other teens considered for this list, seem like the real deal, and they’ll both likely make it to the top of this list in a few years
