5 Football Best Strikers In The World

In this article, we want to introduce you to the best strikers in the world. Some of the players are certainly also on your personal TOP list, but there may be a real surprise. We are curious how you like our ranking of the best strikers.

How did we choose the best football best strikers?

For one thing, we recently conducted a large-scale survey on our social media channels and asked our followers about the best footballers. These results have of course been incorporated into the TOP 5 ranking of the best strikers in 2020/2021. On the other hand, we made our own assessments and evaluations and looked at all candidates in more detail.

Football Best Strikers: Top 5

In addition to stats, the success of the teams in which the strikers play was and are of course also important. All in all, a multitude of factors were decisive for the top 5 rankings of the best strikers in the world.

5: Sadio Mané

The past two seasons have been Sadio Mané’s best so far. The Senegalese have been surrounded by the best strikers in the world for years. But now he belongs to the narrow circle of top strikers worldwide. With Liverpool, he won the CL in 2019, in the championship they finished first in 19/20. Individually, he was 18/19 – together with Salah and Aubameyang – top scorer in the Premier League.

The choice for fifth place among the best strikers was anything but easy to make. Mané’s team-mate Salah, for example, also had an excellent last season and contributed equally to winning the Champions League and the championship in 2020. Nevertheless, Mané’s performances in the decisive games were often even stronger, his influence on the game of Liverpool more significant. In our opinion, Mané deserves a place among the top 5 strikers in the world.

4: Kylian Mbappé

It is unbelievable at what level the 21-year-old Frenchman is already moving. His pace on the field is hardly matched by any other professional, his dribbling and shots on goal are irresistible. With an unbelievable 33 goals, he was the top scorer in Ligue 1 in the 2018/19 season.

In this 2020/2021 season, he again scored several times in the league and the CL. It seems certain that we will still have a lot of fun with Mbappé. If one of the very young professionals could one day inherit a CR7 or Messi, it would be Mbappé.

3: Cristiano Ronaldo

The 2018/19 season was rather calm for CR7 standards. The championship title with Juve was more of a formality. It was similar in the 19/20 season. In the Champions League, Ronaldo played strong as usual – but Juve lacked the bite to survive in the knockout phase.

While Ronaldo did not always find his best form in his first two years in Italy, he often showed his extraordinary skills. It is not entirely by chance that he was voted footballer of the year in Italy twice.

Even at the age of 35, Ronaldo still has everything a world-class striker needs – also in terms of fitness. His goal instinct is unique anyway. If everything fits together at Juve in the 2020/2021 season, the CL title could finally be won this year – with CR7 you have a guarantor who knows exactly how to do it. Without question, Ronaldo is still one of the best strikers in the world.

2: Lionel Messi

Messi is (only) number 2 of the best strikers in the world for both our followers and our editorial team. In the season 18/19, he won the championship with FC Barcelona. In the CL, he fell short of expectations with the club, even if reaching the semi-finals – at least for almost every other club – is quite remarkable.

But things went even better for Messi individually: He was the top scorer in the national league (36 goals) and the Champions League (12 goals) in 18/19.

Even though Messi is not getting any younger at 33, it seems that he is still developing. For example, for some time now, Messi has matured into arguably the most dangerous free-kick taker in the world.

The question is which superlative Messi does not yet have his own. The awards won – the world footballer and the Ballon d’Or – were logical in the past. In our ranking of the best strikers in the world, however, he was unable to defend his first place.

1: Robert Lewandowski

If the Pole had been active at a different time, he would have ended up in first place earlier in our ranking among the best strikers. But now the time has come. In the 20/21 season, he is the measure of all things in the striker position in world football.

The Pole is an absolute goal guarantee at FC Bayern and arguably the best player in the Bundesliga. In the striker position, no one else is currently close to him.

Lewa in any case seems to be getting better and better even at over 30. He scores goals on the assembly line, as only Gerd Müller did before him in the Bundesliga. We are very excited to see whether Lewandowski will be able to bring Bayern back to the championship and possibly the CL title this season. At the moment it looks very much like that.

Conclusion on the best strikers of the 2020/2021 season

It will come as no surprise to many of you that Lewandowski is in the first place. For us – as well as for our followers – he is currently the clear number one in the storm. But it is not certain that it will stay that way for the next few years. For one thing, you can never write off CR7 – at 34 he still has the fitness of a 20-year-old, but above all, he wants to lead Juve to the CL title.

On the other hand, young mega-talents are increasing at a breathtaking pace – above all Kylian Mbappé. And conversely, Lewa is of course not getting any younger. It will remain exciting to see whether Lewandowski will be able to assert himself on the football throne of the best striker for the next few years.
